What is Azúcar?

Azúcar - Tampereen salsa r.y. (registered association) is an association founded in March 2003 uniting all salsa people in Tampere area. Azúcar organizes all kinds of salsa-related activities, like for instance rhythmic parties indoors and outdoors, and trips to other salsa cities.

Our calendar of events informs you about our future events. We act as an information channel for local salsa folks and we also spread information about salsa to other interested people. At least currently we do not organize salsa teaching. If you are interested in getting classes, you will find contact information for local salsa schools from our web pages.

Membership pays off!

Our association has currently about 300 members. With your membership fee you will secure the active salsa life of Tampere and for instance these web pages. In addition, you will get membership reductions to events of the association, or you help us to arrange free events. And that's not all! With an Azúcar membership card you get to enjoy reduced prices also outside of Tampere.

Azúcar Board

The decisions in Azúcar are made by a board, which is elected annually. The board consists of the chairman, four to six members, and 2 vice members. The aim is to make decisions, which reflect the general opinions of the members. Thereby, the board is always listening to the members' opinions and it pays off to tell your wishes about our activities, for instance by giving feedback to the board. Our aim is to do all things together - free of unnecessary bureaucracy and frowning.

Azúcar is sweet going

We believe we are worthy of our name. "Azúcar" means literally sugar and it is often shouted to spice up salsa lyrics, wishing to express that the feeling and 'tumbao' are exceptionally sweet and juicy. What would be a more suitable common denominator for the lovably sweet Tampere salseros, dancing salsa and partying with attitude.
